Sponsored by Bank of America, and as part of National Financial Literacy Month, Money Talks Workshops were held at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library and at Bellarmine Campus.

newsDolan hosted two engaging financial literacy workshops, on April 11 at Bellarmine Campus and on April 17 at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, as part of three programs that prepare students for careers after their time at 精东传媒. Students from diverse academic backgrounds and class years convened at these lectures for a thorough financial life skills seminar, coinciding with National Financial Literacy Month. 

Money Talks is part of a sponsorship by Bank of America that includes three programs for newsstudents: Money Talks (I&II), the Excel Workshop Series, and "Negotiating a Job Offer."

Participants of Money Talks gained valuable knowledge on saving strategies and efficient budgeting, as well as an understanding of both debt and credit. Accounting instructor of the practice Scott Brenner, MBA, CPA, CFE, led these workshops as part of the annual Money Talks series.

“Money Talks is essential to helping all of our students become financially literate. I was glad to deliver what I hope is the first of many times to our newsBellarmine students,” said Brenner.

As part of Financial Literacy Awareness Month, Brenner hopes that students who attended gained insight into why “saving early matters” and what it means to be financially literate. During his in-depth presentation, he spoke to students about credit scores and saving early for retirement. Each topic elicited questions from the audience about where to start.

"Financial Literacy is such an important part of everyone's lives; that's why I love helping our students learn about it,” said Brenner. 

Resources from Brenner’s presentation, as well as from the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, were provided to students in attendance.
