This document is designed to provide faculty, staff, and students with basic information about the roles, responsibilities, and authority of the newsUniversity's Department of Public Safety, as well as certain other departments at the University that, in coordination with the Department of Public Safety, are part of newsUniversity's efforts to prevent, investigate and report crimes and manage emergency on campus
Learn About Campus Safety

The function of Public Safety is to ensure that the entire university community stays as free as possible from crime while pursuing their academic endeavors to the fullest. Officers prevent, investigate, and report any violations of State or Federal Law and/or University regulations on campus.

Patrol during all hours of the day and in almost any type of weather
Carry condensed medical kits and are Emergency Medical Technicians
Receive training in bike tactics and are nationally certified through the Law Enforcement Bicycle Association

newsUniversity's Bicycle Patrol has trained alongside Bicycle Patrol Officers from Danbury Police, New York City Housing Police, Darien Police, Yale University, Sacred Heart University Public Safety, Bridgeport University Security, and Southern Connecticut State University Police.

The Team helped create patrols at Columbia University, Scarsdale Police, Stamford Police, Western Connecticut State University, and Weston Police.

Directions

From North Benson Road/main entrance: Enter through the main gate and follow Loyola Boulevard to the traffic circle. Turn right off the circle into the first parking lot. Loyola Hall is across the street.

From Barlow Road entrance: Take Bellarmine Road to the split. Stay right at the pond on to McInnes Road. Pass the Quick Center on your left. Continue on McInnes Road to the second stop sign. Turn left on to Loyola Boulevard and proceed to the traffic circle. Turn right off the circle into the first parking lot. Loyola Hall is across the street.
